2012 is the Year of Creative Scotland!
A year long celebration of our culture, music, and arts with truly world class events taking place throughout the country. Poetry, jazz, bagpiping, traditional music, comedy, literature, architecture, design, film, crafts, textiles…you name it, there is a wealth of festivals and events taking place this year – a great reason to make 2012 the year you visit Scotland! Highlights include the Aberdeen Jazz Festival which takes place in March, Piping Live! which takes place in Glasgow in August, the Speed of Light (August) which will see amazing light displays over Arthur’s Seat, the hill which dominates the Edinburgh skyline, and the Wigtown Book Festival (Sep/Oct).

I was surprised to read this in the news this morning - the Clan Donald Lands Trust has decided to put its estate on the Isle of Skye up for sale. The 20,000 acre estate includes Armadale Castle and the historic lands of the Clan MacDonald of Sleat. The Trust
